
Introduction
In this lesson you will learn about some of the basic functions of InDesign.
Open InDesign
Create a new document and select the "letter" preset
Familiarize yourself with the menu options on the top bar
Select the "rectangle tool" from the tool panel on the left
Click and drag on the document to draw the rectangle
Select the "selection tool" from the tool panel on the left
Drag and resize the rectangle to your liking
Use the properties panel on the right to adjust the border weight, color, and style
Select the "fill color" option from the properties panel and double-click on a swatch
Adjust the values to set the color to your liking (Mercer Orange is RGB 247, 104, 0)
Select the "type" tool from the tool panel
Click inside the rectangle
Use keyboard command control-b (command-b on Mac) to open the "text frame options" window
Use the up arrows to increase the "inset spacing" and click "okay"
Use the properties panel on the right to adjust your font, font size, and font color to your liking
Go to the File tab and click save (or use keyboard command control-s on Windows or command-s on Mac) to save and name your document
Go to the File tab, click export, click save on the pop up window, adjust your export settings, and click "Export"
