
How to Make a Flyer
In this lesson you'll learn how to make a flyer.

Open InDesign
Click "Create New", select the "letter" option, and click "create"
Select the "rectangle" tool, draw a rectangle that covers the entire document and give it a black fill
Use the "rectangle" tool to draw another, smaller rectangle to serve as a banner and adjust its fill color to your liking
Select the "type" tool and click inside the banner
Use the "text frame options" window (control-b/command-b) to adjust the inset spacing and vertical justification to your liking then click "okay"
Type your text into the banner and use the properties panel on the right to adjust your font, font size, and font color
Draw another rectangle the same color as your banner, big enough to be a text box
Draw a white rectangle just a bit smaller than the last inside the previous rectangle
Shift-click both of these rectangles then right click and select "group"
Use the "type" tool, command-b/control-b shortcut, and properties panel to write your text and customize its style
Copy and paste this text box to the bottom of the document, resizing it and rewriting its text to your liking
Go to the File tab and click "place"
Select the Technical Communication image, and resize/place it within the document
Draw one more rectangle, roughly the same dimensions as your bottom text box, leave the fill empty, and set the border weight and color
Use the File tab and "place" button to place the four clip arts inside the rectangular frame
Move and resize the clip art as necessary
Use the File tab to save and export your document
